Happy National Poetry Month!
Friends, I apologize for my scattered newsletter presence lately. I’m still struggling with post-COVID/Long COVID fatigue, and my teaching job has demanded a lot of my time with midterm grading, etc.
However, it is National Poetry Month, and as a poet, I feel like it’s my duty to write about and share with you some poetry.
An April Day
Joseph Seamon Cotter Jr. - 1895-1919
On such a day as this I think,
On such as day as this,
When earth and sky and nature’s whole
Are clad in April’s bliss;
And balmy zephyrs gently waft
Upon your cheek a kiss;
Sufficient is it just to live
On such a day as this.
I’m trying to get back to a regular schedule. I’ll be honest, I completely forgot to write Monday’s newsletter due to my preoccupation with the University of Iowa Women’s Basketball team playing in the National Championship game on Sunday. (I could write an entire newsletter about that game, if you’re interested, but that’s not my typical genre, I know).
More later this week, I promise.
